Merry Christmas!
25 December 2022 11:15Today is a quiet day for John and me; just presents, snacks, curling up on the sofa to watch movies, and Christmas cheeseburgers. Neither of us love turkey, and it's a lot of work, so cheeseburgers instead, accompanied by roast potatoes, of course, and for me, roasted carrots, parsnips, and brussels sprouts.
(As a side note, I grew up in a household where brussels sprouts were not consumed, ever, because my dad hated them. So I never had a sprout until I moved here, whereupon I discovered that I really like them! So eating brussels sprouts is for me a tiny little joyous rebellion.)
Some of my physical health issues kicked up in the last few days, prompted by I have no idea what. It was just low-grade nausea, for about a day and a half, constantly feeling sick with no discernable reason or way of fixing it (I tried everything). It was absolutely miserable. Fortunately I felt better yesterday and I feel fine today.
Therefore, I've watched a bunch of movies in the last week or so, including Stardust, both the Princess Diaries movies, the utterly terrible take on Snow White that is Mirror Mirror, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, which has one of my favourite bisexual characters of all in time in Gustave H. I've also been watching very mindless cooking shows, like the Netflix one about using up leftovers and one about using an easy-bake oven. They've actually given me some good ideas and tips.
I hope everyone is having a happy time just now, celebrating in whatever way is best for you, or not celebrating if you don't, but happiness either way!
