Hi! I'm elwinfortuna. You can call me Elwin or E.

I'm American by birth but have lived in Scotland for many years. My husband is wibbble; we met on LiveJournal in 2000 and have been married for a long time. I'm in my forties; I sometimes post about adult stuff, please don't add me if you're under 18.

I'm non-binary, intersex, and bisexual. I'm happy with any pronouns.

I've been in fandom since 1999, drawn in by Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. However, I'd consider my first fandom to be Tolkien's works, ever since I was a six-year-old reading The Hobbit for the first time, thrilling over dragons, Elves, and magical glowing gems. That is the sort of thing you don't recover from: 30-odd years later I find myself having written literally hundreds of stories set in Tolkien's Middle-earth.

Along the way I've dipped a toe and sometimes my entire self in a lot of fandoms; in addition to Star Wars and Tolkien, they've included various iterations of Star Trek, Babylon 5, Buffy and Angel, Firefly, Narnia, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Rosemary Sutcliff's books, Torchwood, the MCU, Sentinel, Highlander, and many little book or movie fandoms.

These days I'm also throwing myself into Chinese drama and danmei fandoms. These include The Untamed & Mo Dao Zu Shi, Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Ci Fu), Love Between Fairy and Devil, Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain, Shan He Ling/Word of Honor, and the RPF ship Junzhe (Gong Jun/Zhang Zhehan). I have also begun learning Mandarin and studying Chinese poetry and literature.

I'm a multishipper, mainly of slash, femslash, and poly ships, but now and again the odd het ship grabs my attention. I love larger-than-life characters, epic storylines, and eucatastrophe. I have a loyalty kink you could see from space, and a deep abiding weakness for turning tragedy into heroic triumph. I write whenever I can and I don't so much read as swallow books and fic whole. If I read your fic to the end, I kudos it: it means I liked it! If I really really like it, I comment.

I enjoy betaing and editing fic for others, I love participating in exchanges and writing for prompts and challenges, and I'm a huge fan of fanfiction book clubs and readings. I archive stuff relentlessly.

Away from fandom, I'm the willing servant of a couple of cats: Socks, a big black-and-white mischief embodied, and Rey, a tiny princess of a ragdoll. I also do various bits of activism, and am engrossed in part-time study toward a Creative Writing degree. I cope with what seems to be an ever-increasing collection of health problems, some fairly common, some ridiculously rare. Sometimes these things mean I can't participate in fandom as much as I'd like, so if you and I are having a conversation and it's taking me a while to come back to you, that's probably why.

Bi community folks and activist people I know in RL are very welcome to add me, with the caveat that this blog is RL and fandom stuff all mixed together. I am sometimes horny on main, and I don't tend to keep strict demarcations between fandom and RL all that well. If you just want personal stuff and you know my wallet name, Facebook's probably a better bet.
