elwinfortuna: Rainbow Fëanorian star, surrounded by text: "through sorrow to find joy." (Default)

Dear Innumerable Stars Creator:

I'm [archiveofourown.org profile] elwinfortuna aka [tumblr.com profile] edgeoflight. (Previous username was amyfortuna, I have recently changed it, see here for why.)

I'm so excited that you'll be writing for me! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Prompts are optional; if you get another idea, just run with it!

What I generally love to see in fanworks:
  • Loyalty and genuine devotion.
  • Meaningful sacrifice.
  • When repressed emotion comes out, especially if it's about love that the character thinks is unrequited but turns out to be requited.
  • A strong sense of love and caring.
  • Hope in the midst of despair.
  • Endearments and affection.
  • Desperate need or longing for love (that is then provided).
  • Rescues from the brink of death.
  • Eucatastrophe (the opposite of catastrophe - a sudden joyous turn in a story).
  • Quarrels and fights, high emotional stakes and risks, passion raging out of control, desperation, and sudden impulses.
  • Canon-divergence! (Especially Fëanorians Win AUs.)
  • Meeting someone for the first time and feeling an instant kinship with them.
  • Loyalty or devotion to a cause or a person.
  • Working together like a well-oiled machine.
  • Battlefield friendships.
  • Enemies working together to defeat a common greater enemy (then figuring out that they aren't really enemies anymore).
  • Admiring someone's skill or competence.
  • Compassion, mercy, and pity as themes.
  • Geopolitics, maps, layouts of houses and lands.
  • Fashion and landscape descriptions.
  • Thinking outside the box: coming up with new and different takes and spins on events, characters, and concepts. Wanna write something you think is a bit cracktastic? I'm your person.
  • Trans (including non-binary) and intersex characters, especially explorations of the Elven concept of gwegwin.
  • Fic inspired by my own fic: remixes, based on, set in the same 'verse, using the same plotline, etc.

For art: Visual depictions of any of the prompts would be really good - I've tried to give prompts that can be depicted as art in some way. But mainly I'm interested to see your vision of the setting and the characters. I am utterly indifferent to conventional beauty standards and would in fact prefer to see age lines where appropriate, as well as people of varying sizes, shapes, and skin tones.

I absolutely adore maps and architecture; I draw clumsy layouts of houses and lands when I need to visualise where in a space people might be, and I would love anything you can come up with -- a layout of Himring, a map of Rivendell, architectural plans for Bag End, etc, etc.

I'm especially interested in art as character study: what a character wears, carries, is using, is doing, says so much about who they are as a person.

If you'd like to draw me smuttier art, I love suggestive clothing just as much as full nakedness and am always on board for one partner being fully clothed while the other one is naked. I love rumpled garments, clothing half off, blissful expressions on faces, arms around each other, hard nipples on men and women, erections for men, women who are visibly wet. I adore hair - long hair on heads, underarm hair, beards where relevant, women with muff. I would be in the seventh heaven to receive art depicting any scene from my own fic.

Regarding romance/sex:
I love kink and smut! I'm cool with any kind of ship: poly relationships, het, femslash, and slash, as well as of course solo masturbation and sex that doesn't really fall into the above categories at all, including smut involving trans and intersex characters. I'm cool with underage as long as all parties have been through puberty, and I adore teacher/student dynamics or situations where the parties involved have unequal levels of power (especially if it's Complicated). Loyalty kink is my FAVE, and I like it to be mutual.

For BDSM specifically, I prefer mind or power games to whips and chains, or alternatively, playful experimentation rather than Serious BDSM Is Serious. Dubious consent can also be fun to play with, especially somnophilia or scenarios that involve sex pollen or being forced to have sex by a third party. I love seeing characters so mutually overwhelmed by desire that they can't resist each other. I have no real boundaries when it comes to kink or sex acts (other than my DNWs) and will happily read anything, though I particularly enjoy:

For ships involving only men: auto-anal and auto-fellatio, rimming, watersports, comeplay of all kinds, nipple sucking (especially ritualised), intercrural sex, frottage (especially clothed frottage including coming in pants), and lovingly described blowjobs. Anal sex is good too, but I prefer it not be considered the be-all and end-all of sex between men.

For ships involving only women: cunnilingus, any kind of anal play, especially rimming, strap-on play, nipple play, and tribadism.

For ships involving a man and a woman: femdom, pegging, cunnilingus, especially queening, vaginal sex, anal sex, and nipple play. I like it when the pair are either both equally in control or a woman is but that doesn't necessarily mean she has to be on top. Not a fan of het fic where the man is totally in control and the woman is virginal and sort of swept away by him, I like men who are more submissive than dominant, or who at the very least are more concerned with their partner's pleasure than their own.

For threesomes/moresomes involving men and women, or people who don't really fall into the above categories: Double penetration is fun, but equally non-penetrative sex including frottage, oral sex, intercrural sex, or handjobs.

And then, there are some things I don't love and would rather not see in fic:
  • Outright and graphically described/depicted rape/noncon, torture, extreme physical or mental suffering, 'misery porn', or grimdark.

  • Harm to animals that goes beyond what's expected in canon. Fine to note that a horse was killed in battle, or that a rabbit was shot and cooked for food, or that an Elf defended themselves from a bear attack, but no graphic or senseless harm to animals, especially cats or dogs.

  • A focus on sickness or illness, pregnancy and babies, or very young children (except where specifically prompted). Okay to mention these things as they are part of life, but I don't want a fic all about them.

  • Extreme, out-of-character, romantic angst or miscommunication. If the problem keeping the lovers apart can be solved with one straightforward conversation which they totally have opportunity to have and just keep not having, then it's gone too far. Legitimate misunderstanding or miscommunication is entirely fine.

  • For smut: scat, vomiting, heavy BDSM like ritualised whipping or beating, using safewords during play that isn't specifically consent play (a 'no' or 'stop' should suffice in all other cases).

  • Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, racism, sexism or the effects thereof as a major part of the story.

  • Character-bashing. Don't do it to any character, but especially not to the Fëanorians. I love them and want them to be happy.

  • Redemption, sorrow for "sin," angsting forever by the seaside, the Valar being right and good in everything they do, and characters needing to suffer for the things they've done. In general, the concept of 'sin' in Tolkien's work is something I'd rather not see at all. Maglor can angst a little by the seaside if it's necessary for the story but ultimately he should move on with his life in whatever way.

Onward to the fandoms!

Leaf by Niggle

Original Character(s)
I'd love to see an original character discovering Niggle's Parish and making their own changes to the place. Also, I came up with a thought, sort of crudely represented by the tag Niggle's Leaf but Fandom's ???, and I'd love to see a sort of metafic on what it is that Fandom as a collective creates that will be remembered. Fandom's World, Fandom's Metaverse?

Group: Niggle/Parish
I really ship these two and would love to see them falling into a happy, no-strings-attached, relationship while they create Niggle's Parish, maybe with an exploration of how they were attracted to each other back home but each of them repressed it or felt they couldn't express it.

Group: Niggle/Parish/Parish's Wife
Same as above, except, threesome! :D

Group: First Voice/Second Voice
I'm very interested in what the First and Second Voices are and even more interested in what could be done with a relationship between them.

The Adventures of Tom Bombadil

Group: Mee/Shee
I'd love to see Mee and See being able to meet, instead of dancing as reflections of each other forever.

Group: Perry-the-Winkle/Troll Baker
I really do ship these two, and I'm fascinated by the Troll and his motivations.

Narrator of The Sea-Bell
Is it Frodo, or Maglor, or someone else? What does this poem say about Valinor, and what does it say about the mental state of the Narrator?

Group: The Mewlips
So creepy! This is mostly an art prompt, I just want to see a lovely horrible depiction of them.

Original Character(s)
Take whatever poem you like and run with it. Feel free to go meta and talk about the author of one of the poems, or one of the unnamed characters in the poems.

Fastitocalon
I'd love to hear about his adventures and motivations! Does he have a family? What's his side of the story when people land on his back, mistaking it for an island?

The Man In the Moon
Tilion? Or someone else? What's his life like in the Moon? He seems to enjoy having fun -- I'd love to hear about some of the epic parties he's been to!

The Ostler's Tipsy Cat
A cat playing a fiddle? How did that happen exactly?

Firiel
What tempts her to go and why does she stay? What is her life like, after she rejects the offer?

Group: Gorcrows
What exactly are gorcrows anyway?

Young Warrior (Hoard), Old King (Hoard), Old Dwarf (Hoard), Dragon (Hoard)
I'd love to hear more about the personalities behind these folklore-style stereotypes.

A Weather-Driven Mariner (Errantry)
I'd really like to hear about his adventures in way more detail, or to have art of what he looks like!

Smith of Wootton Major

Group: Rob Rider/Rose Sangster, Group: Rob Rider & Ella, Rob Rider, Rose Sangster
I'd love to hear about Rob's adventures in Faery, or some of his more mundane adventures in love with Rose, his relationship with his daughter Ella, or as the Master Cook. And for Rose, I'd love to hear what her life was like, and what she knew about Rob's adventures.

Molly Miller, Lily Draper, Harry Cooper
These are the three other children, besides Smith and Nell, who were mentioned as being at the Feast of Good Children. What were their lives like? What did they think of Smith?

Alf Prentice, Group: The Faery Queen/The Faery King
I'm always up for hearing more about Alf's adventures, in Faery or out of it, or about his relationship with his queen.

Original Character
I'd love to see how a character from today's world would feel and act if they could go to Faery using the star. How would they acquire it? What would they do in Faery?

Ned Smithson, Nan
How did the two children of Smith feel about his journeys, and how did their lives go?

Group: Nell Webster & Wyn Webster, Nell, Group: Smith/Nell, Smith
I'd love to hear about Nell's life growing up with her sister, about her romance with Smith, or anything about Smith's adventures in Faery, and her adventures too, either in Faery or not.

The Book of Lost Tales

Tinfang Warble (BoLT)
He charms the Moon? Who is he, an Avari, a Sinda? How does he earn the title of the third greatest bard of Middle-earth?

Daurin Tórin (BoLT)
There's so much potential for drama here. A relative of Fëanor, defender of the Trees, the only person other than Finwë to die in Valinor at Morgoth's hand...who was this mysterious Elf?

The Sleeper in the Tower of Pearl (BoLT)
I spot Sleeping Beauty potential! Retell me a fairy tale, Middle-earth style.

Littleheart (BoLT)
I adore Voronwë but have not seen much about Littleheart and would really love to hear more about the circumstances of his birth and early life in Beleriand before coming to Valinor. (Or was he born in Valinor after his dad's adventures? If so what does he think of Middle-earth and all the people there?)

Group: Vairë/Lindo (BoLT)
These two are interesting! Tell me about them and their house.

Maidros (Grandfather of Fëanor) (BoLT)
Míriel's dad? Or Finwë's? In any case, his name is related to Maedhros'. How come?

Gilfanon of Tavrobel (BoLT)
I love the idea of Tavrobel and The House of a Hundred Chimmeys, and all the residents of the town, especially Gilfanon. I'd love to know more about what he does and who he is.

Sellic Spell

Beewolf
Original Character
Unfriend
Grinder's Dam
Grinder
The Queen of the Golden Hall
Original Giant

I don't have any character-specific prompts because this is a fandom with no fic at all, so I would really just love to see anything you come up with, using the worldbuilding tags if they inspire you.

The Silmarillion

Group: Eilinel/Lúthien
Oooh, what an interesting pairing. What if Eilinel was the one to survive and make her way to Doriath? How does that change the story?

Group: Aerin/Morwen
How do Aerin and Morwen figure out their feelings for one another? Does Morwen feel guilt because she's not sure if Húrin is dead? Is Aerin, defiant as ever, kissing Morwen just to feel something at first and then catching feelings?

Group: Finrod/Beren/Lúthien, Group: Finrod/Bëor, Group: Barahir/Finrod, Group: Finrod/Maedhros, Group: Fingon/Finrod
Finrod Felagund fucked them all, and I would very much like to see how. :D

Group: Maedhros/Maglor/Elrond/Elros, Group: Elrond/Elros
I'd very much love to see the four of them slowly go from kidnappers/kidnapped to wards/guardians to friends to lovers. Elrond/Elros would be lovely as a twincest, comfort thing as they grow up in a scary world full of war.

Group: Maglor/Curufin, Group: Amrod/Amras, Group: Fëanor/Maedhros/Maglor/Celegorm/Caranthir/Curufin/Amrod/Amras, Group: Maedhros/Maglor/Maglor's Wife, Group: Maedhros/Maglor, Group: Fëanor/Curufin, Group: Fëanor/Maglor, Group: Fëanor/Maedhros
Giant Fëanorian Incest Wall 'o Tags! I can has porn for them please? Any of these boys in any configuration or all will make me so happy.

Group: Niënor/Túrin
I just really want to see a fic where Niënor goes "Fuck it, I don't care that I slept with my brother, fuck you Glaurung, die knowing that you failed to conquer this child of Húrin," and lives happily ever after with Túrin who doesn't know a damn thing.

Group: Maedhros/Maglor/Fingon, Group: Fingon/Maedhros
I would really love to see something unusual or out of the norm for these ships. Give me your weird crack take! Also I would love just a straight-up, no holds barred, kinky PWP.

Crossovers

Group: Celebrían (Silm)/Goldberry (LOTR Books)
Celebrían, before marrying Elrond, has an Adventure in the Second Age, near the Brandywine River. And by Adventure, I mean hot lesbian sex with an eldritch River-daughter.

Group: Maglor (Silm)/Goldberry (LOTR books)
I'm into it if Maglor is Tom Bombadil but also if he's not. I do think he and Goldberry would work well together. Doesn't have to be true love.

Tilion (Silm) as The Man in the Moon (ATB)
Tilion partying up a storm before and after he becomes the Man in the Moon is my jam.

Group: Maidros (grandfather of Fëanor) (BoLT) & Maedhros (Silm)
So curious! Maedhros meets his great-grandfather, how does that go?

Group: Bilbo Baggins (LOTR books) & Maglor (Silm)
Bilbo, scholar of the First Age and translator of the Silmarillion, meets Maglor, who is just in Rivendell for the free food. That being said, so is Bilbo.

Group: Maglor (Silm) & Elladan (LotR books) & Elrohir (LotR books) & Arwen (LotR books)
Feel free to write kidfic for this one if you want. Cute family times with Maglor, Elrond's twins, and baby Arwen would be lovely.

Group: Original Oxford Archaeologist character (Tolkien 2019) & Nerdanel (Silm)
I really want to see Nerdanel decide to have an adventure of her own and wander into Oxford, where she meets an archaeologist, who is mystified by the trifles she carries with her and the stories she has to tell about them.

Group: Fastitocalon (ATB) & Aldarion & OC(s) from the Guild of Venturers (Silm)
Just give me Aldarion, finding and landing on the forbidden island.

Group: Maglor (Silm) & Barliman Butterbur (LOTR Books)
Maglor, hanging out at the Prancing Pony? Oh yeah! What does he think of Butterbur, and what does Butterbur think of him? Does he earn lots of coin for the inn because everyone in Bree comes to hear him play?

Group: Maglor (Silm) & J. R. R. Tolkien (Tolkien 2019)
I'd love to see a story where for once, Maglor doesn't tell Tolkien the events of the Silm on purpose, but Tolkien finds out anyway through some means.

Group: Goldberry (LOTR Books)/Aredhel (Silm)
I'd love a Romance where Goldberry sweeps Aredhel off her feet (can be literal) and woos her in the finest traditions of Rivers. Aredhel discovers freedom in Goldberry's chilly embrace.

The Hobbit

Group: Stone Giants (Hobbit book)
Where do they come from? What part have they played in Middle-earth?

Pre-Rivendell Elvish Acquaintances of Bilbo Baggins (Hobbit book)
(By pre-Rivendell I mean, pre the time he lived there permanently.) I'd love to see him meet up with Elves on the borders of the Shire, and start to learn about the great deeds of the past that way.

Belladonna Took (Hobbit book)
I'm always up for hearing about Belladonna's adventures! Especially her relationship with Gandalf, who clearly loved her dearly.

Bilbo Baggins (Hobbit book)
I'd love to see something about Bilbo's younger days before he heads off on his Adventure.

Original Character from Dale (Hobbit book)
Something about the rebuilding of Dale, or relations with Lake-town, Erebor, and the Elves. Or a toymaker in the market!

Original Character from Lake-town (Hobbit book)
I'd love to see an explorer who, years after the death of Smaug, is really keen to get some of the treasure on the lake bottom, and goes to extreme measures to do so.

Group: Elvenking/Bard (Hobbit book)
Please don't base them on the movies. I'd love to see Bard/Elvenking building from what we have in the book, and how their connection moves from co-negotiators to a relationship.

Group: The Elvenking & his children (Hobbit book)
It would be fascinating to get a glimpse of not just Legolas, but other children as well.

The Elvenking (Hobbit book)
What are his motivations and thoughts about the situation he is in? What is his history? And how does he do the feasting thing where all the lights go out as soon as someone steps in the circle?

Took Fairy Wife (Hobbit book)
I've always loved the idea that way back in hobbit history, an Elf or a Maia married in. Who was she?

Gandalf (Hobbit book)
I'd love to see one of Gandalf's lesser known adventures, preferably involving the Shire in some way. Maybe with Belladonna?

The Lord of the Rings

Original Non Binary Character (LOTR Books)
What would life be like for someone who didn't fit as either male or female? Does it make a difference where they are?

Group: Éomer/Éowyn (LOTR book)
I see this ship as very much about either Éowyn rebelling against the standards of her society, or about the two of them seeking comfort together.

Group: Daughter of Arwen/Original Female Character (LotR books)
I've always loved the idea of one of Arwen's daughters marrying a woman. Is this a political alliance? A grand sweeping romance? Handmaiden/princess? Take your pick!

Group: Éowyn/Arwen (LOTR books)
What if Éowyn makes her way to Lorien when Arwen is there and they fall in love? Or perhaps Éowyn ends up taking Boromir's message to Rivendell? Or, post-canon, a sweet casual relationship between them (please don't have them cheat on their respective spouses, I'd rather it was a polyamorous thing).

Group: Aragorn and Arwen's Daughters (LOTR books)
Just tell me all your ideas for who they might have been and what they did with their lives. I've always sort of headcanoned that there was four of them, but it's up to you!

A Fox Wandering Through the Wood On Business of His Own
*restrains urge to make What Does the Fox Say joke* I've always wondered about that fox. What was his business? And who was he anyway?

Gildor Inglorion (LOTR Books)
I adore a Gildor, tell me his backstory!

Group: Legolas/Gimli (LotR Books)
Legolas/Gimli is something of an OTP for me. I'd love to hear more about their arrival in Valinor: were they expected and welcomed, or did Legolas just turn up one day with his dwarf husband, causing the scandal of the century?
