Snowflake Challenge #5
Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture (a link to a picture will be fine!) or description of something that is or represents:
1. Something your favorite character would like
2. Something that makes you laugh
3. A fandom place you would like to visit
4. A fandom creator (pro or not) you'd like to meet
5. Something you find comforting
6. Something from a favorite TV series or movie from your childhood
7. A piece of clothing you love
8. A book or song with a color in the title
9. Something only someone in your fandom would understand
You don't have to do them all, do whatever you are comfortable with.
Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
1. I think Xie Lian would love to rummage through my house in the hopes of finding junk to collect, and he would absolutely succeed at it. I'm still trying to sort out and get rid of many things I inherited from my mother-in-law, and it's going very slowly at times, but the stuff is indeed going out the door.
I really love that Xie Lian is a collector of junk who likes to fix things up and make them useful again. For a guy whose whole deal is that he wants to "save the common people" as a prince, spending centuries as the "Scrap Immortal" recycling and upcycling trash really resonates in our own day when we should all be doing what we can to reuse, recycle, and pass things on to others when we have no more need of them. It would be easy for me to just get someone to come and collect all the excess stuff in my house and throw it in the dump, but it wouldn't be, in my opinion, the right thing to do.
2. Kictor's video what entering the tgcf fandom is like cracks me up. Kictor's videos in general are great; I love her reactions to the donghua. She's also interviewed James Cheek and Howard Wang (the English VAs for Hua Cheng and Xie Lian respectively) and sometimes talks about other danmei or what's going on in danmei fandom.
3. I want to visit Rivendell! I've wanted to visit Rivendell since I was six years old and reading The Hobbit for the first time. It really does seem like the best place ever.
4. I'm always so so happy to meet fellow fans; there's just something wonderful about spending time in the real world with people you have such a strong interest in common with. Fandom time spent with other humans in a physical space is very grounding, very warm, and always a delight.
5. Whenever I feel in need of comforting, I always go back and reread tether by thegreatpumpkin. (M, Ecthelion/Glorfindel) It's a story all about comfort in the aftermath of a battle, and it somehow takes me through the process of being comforted and leaves me feeling at peace by the end.
6. This is difficult, because I didn't really get exposed to much media as a child; my family didn't own a TV until I was 17, and any movies I saw were few and far between. To say I was sheltered is underestimating it!
But one thing I did love was listening to the BBC radio drama of Lord of the Rings. I highly recommend it. To me, it's the best adaptation, hands down, 13 hours of pure bliss.
7. I have a light blue hoodie that has the Chinese characters for Shan He Ling plus "staying on the mountain" on it from Gusu Designs on Etsy. It's my most beloved item of clothing and I wear it all the time.
8. Rainbow by Kesha. Love this song, it's a happy place.
9. Things only people in Junzhe fandom know: 1640, Gong Jun BIG, maomao and gougou, who ate Gong Jun's sandwich, Tenet movie date, and wet footprints.
